It's my 10th anniversary. Somehow I feel like there are key people in my life who would have liked this marriage to have failed. I take that back, LOVED to see it fail.  Those same people are the ones who would like to most from me and would like me to be utterly devoted to THEM. It makes me sad.
But guess what? I married an amazing person, we were never going to let our marriage fail. Heck, we wouldn't have let it so much as falter!! Instead, we've been in love, happy, produced 4 healthy children and have been really content all the while. So I say, "suck it" to all you non believers. We are doing just fine without your approval.

In the meantime, life moves forward. Next week school resumes. We all cannot wait! I think my kids are tired of looking at me as much as I am tired of hearing them whine for food and entertainment. It's been a long summer. Started off with a bang with me in the hospital having abdominal surgery. The rest of the summer has been spent with me recouperating. end of story.

stuff the kids say

Alec- "Mom I didn't know Abrahama Lincoln knew Jesus."

Me- "What do you mean Alec?"

Alec- "Well mom, I didn't know Jesus lived during the Civil War!!"

Me- (trying not to crash because I am driving  and I think this is hilarious....)

Alec- "Mom something really bad happened at school today!"

Me- "What happened???!"

Alec- "Well Isabella said that she loved Jacob today in front of the whole class!"

Me- "aww, how cute!"

Alec- "No mom, you don't understand, Jacob is like a girl!"

Me-"What? what do you mean by that?"

Alec-"first of all, love is gross, I hate love. But Jacob loves cats, Barbie, and lip gloss!!, he's like a girl mom!!"

Sister jumps in... "Well maybe he has chapped lips, boys can use chapstick for their lips too"

Alec- "No, lipGLOSS, he likes LIPGLOSS! AND Barbie, AND cats!!, he's like a girl"

Me- "Wait, why do you hate love? I love you, you love me, love is ok, what's wrong with love?"

Alec- "Love is gross, I hate love, I don't like girls"

Me- "So what do you think of a boy who likes cats, Barbie and lipgloss?"

Alec - "He's like a girl mom, that's it"

LMAO!

Alec- "mommy, I remember when Juliet used to suck your boobie"

Me- "yeah, that's how babies get their milk"

Alec- "What???? how do they get milk in there????!!!"

Me- "Well your body makes the milk after you have a baby"

Alec -"That's weird. But I still remember when Juliet sucked your boobie"

Me- "yeah, that's normal Alec, God made it to work that way"

Alec- "He did??? oh, that's cool"

hilarious!

Endeavors in meatloaf

So the eldest child wants meatloaf. I've only attempted meatloaf a handful of times. It's not high on my list although I do enjoy a cold meatloaf sanny if the opportunity presents.

Off to the store. It's a good day to shop, ALL 4 in school on Thursday, cleaning lady shows up, I need to bail out. Search around online, find a few recipes that sound do-able and worth a shot on my family. Come home, mix up the concoction, toss it in the loaf pan and pop it in the frig for later.

Get the kids, take big kid to sewing class.

Hunt around for how long to cook a 2lb meatloaf. I get everything from 45 min, to 2hrs. 5pm, I put it in, 6:15, I take it out, let it rest. Make some mashed pots with flakes. Thought I had more flakes than I did, too much liquid. So I dump some out in the sink.... add the flakes. Potato soup. @@. Peel a few potatoes for real, cut em small, pop em in the micro, cook those off in a quick few minutes and them smash them and add them to the "soup"... somewhat salvaged. "Tres" (affectionately our third child who is addicted to anything made from potatoes) will eat them now. whew.

Back to the meatloaf. I wonder how do you serve meatloaf? Dump it upside down on a platter? Carefully remove it from the pan with 2 forks so to save my pretty bacon decoration on top? I don't know the true answer but I go with method #2. Salvaged the bacon deco on top and popped my beauty on the platter. Lest I forget, I made canned biscuits and french green beans too. I figured all else failed, I could eat 4 biscuits and call it dinner.

We're all set, start serving the kids. Hubby isn't excited about this dinner at all so he's stalling on the computer somewhere else. I hack him off a slab and land it on his plate anyway. Everyone gets some of the masterpiece. Mid loaf, I think... hmm, I don't think it's done. ACK. Ok, everyone, stick your servings back on the platter, I need to nuke this pile of doo in the micro now. I love my family, I wasn't ready to kill anyone off yet with some raw meat or sausage (recipe called for some)....

Round 2 of serving, I think it's done, slap it all back on the plates, hack off another slice for the hubby because apparently my fabulous cooking has won him over. One more looksy. Still don't think it's done totally in the middle.... but the served meat is done so we're safe, for now.

Hubby ate the meatloaf, eldest child nibbled but mostly stuck to biscuits and jelly. Son ate only biscuits but only after he peeled off the top and bottom layers so as to not see any brown bits anywhere on his bread. Tres ate...what else? mashed potatoes. Baby ate 2 biscuits.  Me? I ate green beans and 3 biscuits. a nibble of meatloaf  was enough.

Lesson learned. I remembered why I don't make things like meatloaf. No one will eat it and I don't like it much, but oldest child felt loved that I made her request. Next time....Make husband a hamburger. Make 2 cans of biscuits and nuke one potato. Dinner!!!

I think tomorrow night we'll order out.

Back for more....

My life.  Today.....
Wake up at 7am, get kids up, make lunches, make breakfast, bug kids to get dressed, ... bug again to get dressed. Make coffee. mmmmm coffee. Force kids to brush teeth. Take kids to school. Come home, get dressed to go for a run. Get the little kids dressed to go with me.  Get kids snacks in baggies and water bottles. Get my own water. Put everyone in car, drive to running partner's house. Get jogging stroller out, get all snacks and waters in the stroller. Get kids out of carseats. Potty at friend's house. Load stroller with kids and cell phone and water bottle. Go for a 3 mile, up hill walk.  Luckily kids are well trained, they never make a peep. The only child silence of the day. Finish walk/run, unload stroller, pee again at friend's house. Load stroller in car, load kids in car, go home. Make lunch for kids and self. Kids beg to go swimming. Change kids to suits, change self to spaghetti straps and find gardening gloves. Fill pool, kids jump in, I pull weeds. 1.5hrs later still pulling weeds. Come in with kids, change everyone back into clean clothes, turn over laundry, load dishes in washer, check email finally. Load kids in car, go pick up bigger kids from school. Play on playground 10 minutes, pry kids off playground, drive to tutor at library. Drop one kid at tutor, take others home. Fix snacks, assist with homework. Pull food out for dinner, start dinner. Load kids in car again, go to library to pick up tutored kid. Get everyone out, go in libary. Let kids roam and find books. Read a few, check out about 20. (every Mon and Wed, it's nuts). Have no real clue how to blog but I thought I should try. I am online enough and there's a ton of activity at my house!!
4 kids create a lot of work for me and yet I am still eeking out a few creative endeavors on my own to keep my mind busy.
I'll be back for more........ just doing a test run!
